Overseeing the smooth running of client accounts, our account manager, Rachel, always loves a good challenge. Say hello to Rachel Williams, the eyes and ears of Station Rd. Rachel has been part of our family since almost the beginning and we couldn’t be happier to have her with us. With her experience and passion for what she does, she strives to always be better, helping our clients reach their full potential. From her, you can expect an honest and genuine opinion alongside incredible results every time. Let’s get to know her better…

Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hey, I’m Rachel. I’ll start by saying that I hate talking about myself, but I’ll give it a go… I’m an account manager at Station Rd and as the first team member, I’ve been here for quite some time – I almost feel like a part of the furniture! I’ve always been incredibly passionate about writing – it was something I fell in love with when I was much younger. I remember constantly writing stories about colourful characters in my spare time, but now my writing tends to focus on client work (fuelled by coffee) and the occasional blog for my own website. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me in the gym, trying out a new restaurant or booking my next trip.

If you were to describe yourself in five words, what would they be?
Talkative, loyal, honest, determined and active (I can’t sit still for long!)

What has been your favourite project that you’ve worked on?
I think I’d probably have to say our campaign with MSC Nutrition alongside its sports ambassadors, particularly Carl Frampton. Focusing on PR outreach to support the brand’s wider communications strategy and social media engagement, we secured key coverage and recognition in leading sports titles including Sky Sports News, Men’s Health and more. The results from that project were fantastic and something I’ll always be proud of.

What’s been your most memorable piece of work?
I’m lucky enough to say that I’ve worked on so many memorable pieces of work – no two days are ever the same here. But if I had to choose, I’d have to say an interview I conducted with Matthew Luhn, an American storyteller for Pixar. This was part of our PR strategy for a client event to support ticket sales, working alongside speakers to help build the profile of the event by sharing expertise through key thought-leadership pieces. One transatlantic call later, I was speaking with one of the creators behind the likes of Toy Story which was incredible and slightly bizarre. Even better still, I was able to secure coverage for this particular client in some of the leading publications in the creative and digital world, which is always a great result.

Why did you decide to join the Station Rd team?
I started with Station Rd as an intern, in my University days. I initially wanted to be a journalist but after some time in a marketing role, I knew this was for me. When I was searching for my first role, one thing I had in my mind when I left university was that I didn’t want to work just ‘anywhere’. So many people I knew set out to get a job, end of – it didn’t matter where or with who. I always knew I wanted to stay in Cardiff – I did my degree here and I’m absolutely in love with my home city, even now. But I also wanted to work for a company that I believed in, somewhere where I knew I could grow and develop whilst working on projects and clients that I felt passionate about. When Lyanna and Jay were looking for their first hire, it almost felt as though everything had fallen into place. And here I am, many years later!

Tell us one thing that we wouldn’t know about you?
My current life goal is to visit every European country by the time I hit 30. I’ve still got a few years to go and I’ve made good headway, so hopefully, I’ll do it!
